It always delights and amazes us to witness the transformation of our urban contemporary photographic space into a scene of someone’s fantastic imagination and this is what happened at Rokeby Studios just recently.

Photo by www.olisansom.comGuest left behind the grunge of our Collingwood side street and stepping through the garage door they entered the loading dock which was lined in pink carpet and rainbow coloured parasols.

Photo by www.olisansom.comWhat awaited them beyond was a world of pure anime.

Photo by www.olisansom.comOur usually pristine white cyclorama was decked over with a 40 square meter LED dance floor while supersized donuts, pandas, Pikachus and Kittys were suspended like super cute thought bubbles from the rafters.

Photo by www.olisansom.comOur hollywood mirrors became sushi stations and hashtags and social media links decalled on the walls and mirrors reminded guests to post their pics and comments on instagram, facebook and twitter.

Photo by www.olisansom.comThe team from The Design Depot went to town with cupcake and burger style been bags, a games arcade complete with pin ball machines and a sticker booth, an 8 meter long transparent pink cocktail bar and the most vividly coloured toilet paper you’d ever see. Not a detail was overlooked.

The Big Group created a stunning array of finger foods themed to the occasion including love heart shaped sushi, oysters with sake and lemon pearls, mini chocolate ice cream cones with miso caramel and kinako & mandarin exploding wagon wheels.

Photo by www.olisansom.comThe guest did not disappoint. Everybody dressed the part and danced well into the night to music provided by DJ Mafia before returning to the cool grey streetscape.

… and as is always the case, 24 hours later, Rokeby Studios had returned to a beautiful world class photographic facility, ready to be transformed again by another creative visionary.
